The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship heads to Detroit’s Belle Isle circuit this weekend & the Nissan powered ESM team is looking to replicate the success it had at Long Beach.
On that Southern California street circuit, American driver Scott Sharp & Scottish ace Ryan Dalziel held the lead late into the race before finishing second. The duo are looking to replicate – or improve upon- that performance this weekend in Detroit aboard the No. 2 Nissan powered Onroak DPI.
Dalziel said :
“Detroit is a great city and really challenging street course. We showed in Long Beach how good our Patrón ESM Nissan DPi was on street courses so we are really looking for good things there. This is still a new program but we feel we are closing the gap to the Cadillacs quickly. It will be tough to beat them on home turf but will be extremely gratifying if we can.”
Johannes van Overbeek & Ed Brown return aboard the No. 22 entry with the pair looking to replicate van Overbeek’s qualifying performance at Circuit of The Americas where he put the Nissan-powered machine on the front row.
