Former GT Academy winner Ricardo Sanchez is set to make his US race debut this weekend at Virginia International Raceway as the Always Evolving / AIM Autosport team returns to Pirelli World Challenge action in the SprintX championship.
Modeled after the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup, the SprintX has race weekends that feature two one-hour races, each with a mandatory driver change.
Sanchez, from Mexico, will team with American Frankie Montecalvo, a former Pirelli World Challenge GTA class champion. Sanchez said :
“After two years of racing in Europe, I’m looking forward to not having to worry about any jet lag. Now it’s just short flights to the US & only one or two hours of time difference. I won’t lose as much time just trying to get my body onto the time zone. It’s going to be easier for sure. Going from this high altitude in Mexico down to sea level is going to be easier for me, physically, as well”.
