New Transport Minister vows to end the war

With the formation of the new coalition government last week, Phillip Hammond MP was appointed as Minister for Transport. In his first day in office he vowed to put a halt to Labour’s ‘war on the motorist’.

Mr Hammond promised to end the way the country’s 33 million drivers have been targeted by the government, by scrapping public funding for speed cameras, reducing the use of clamping firms and reviewing road tolls, as well as reining in costs at the pump when oil prices rocket.
